Would Amazon accept πŸ‘πŸΎ or reject πŸ‘ŽπŸΎ your logo?

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of speaking on a panel at an entrepreneurs summit. I was there sharing my insight on visual branding and how it relates to social media marketing. 😊

At some point in the discussion I shared this tip on logo design and considering the recent posts in the group I wanted to share this great tip here as well.

πŸ‘‰πŸΎ A well designed logo can function in black & white, as in void of color.

In other words… Your logo should still be legible if I were to pour a bucket of black paint over it.

The reason is more so for functionality purposes, especially in the print world, as your logo should be designed to handle any situation like being on a building, side of a truck, stamped on a pen, stitched into a uniform, etc.

Also, when it comes to printing your logo, the amount of colors needed could add up expenses exponentially so it’s always a good point of caution to have your logo in an all black version.

Let’s do a quick test…

Amazon.com recently published a section called Textures & Hues with a listing of all the brands they have available through their website. Interestingly enough, Amazon chose to display the brands’ logos in all black.

Would your logo still be legible if Amazon wanted to add your brand to this section? Or would you have to scramble to fix your logo in order to not miss this opportunity?

Notice how they removed the colors from all of the brands listed.
